Ohio Valley Hoops Classic

The Mason Boys Basketball won a squeaker for the season opener on Friday, Nov. 25th in the Ohio Valley Hoops Classic at Mason. The Comets helped their new head coach Adam Toohey earn his first win with a final score of 72-69.

Mason rushed out to a 39-20 lead at the half and then held off Dunbar in the second half even though the Comets were outscored 49-33 in the final two quarters.

Mason got balanced scoring from: Jack Ullom 17, Matt DeBrosse 15, Alex Koeling 11, Jake Hanley and Ben Golan with 10.

Mason prevailed in an away game at Springboro on Tuesday, 11/29. Final score with Mason winning was 69-63. The Comets pulled off a com-from-behind win after being down 54-46 going into the final frame. Mason offense kicked in high gear in the last 8 minutes outscoring SB 23-9 to nail their 2nd win of the season for Coach Toohey.

Mason was led by Ben Golan's 27 points and 12 rebounds (double-double) with Jack Ullom chipping in 17.

Mason boys visited Colerain Friday and came away with a 75-41 romp. Mason led 39-20 at the break and never looked back. The Comets were paced by a trio of players: Jake Hanley 18, Matt DeBrosse 16 and Jack Ullom 15. Ben Golan was tough on the boards with 8 rebounds.

Next up, Mason (3-0, 1-0) will host Princeton on Tuesday, 12/6.

Mason boys suffered their first loss of the season last night at home to Princeton. Final score was 75-63. The Comets fell behind after two quarters of play, 37-25, and could never make up the difference.

Leaders for Mason: Matt Debrosse 17 and Ben Golan 14. Golan had a double-double grabbing 16 carooms in the contest. Jack Ullom pulled down 10 rebounds.

Next up, Mason (5-1, 1-1) will visit Oak Hills on Friday.

Mason Boys bball earned a hard-fought 48-38 win at Oak Hills last Friday. The first half was a defensive battle with neither team being able to sustain much offense. Score at the half was 17-11 in favor of the Highlanders.

The Comets came alive in the final two quarters outscoring OH 37-21 to win the game.

Leaders for Mason: Ben Golan 13 and Matt Debrosse 11. Golan also had 9 rebounds.

Mason (4-1, 2-1 GMC) will be back in action on Tuesday, at home vs. Middletown.

Mason boys basketball lost a close one to Middletown on Tuesday. Final score was 56-55. A strong Middie third quarer erased a Comet half-time lead. Leaders for Mason: Ben Golan 26 points and Matt DeBrosse 13. Golan secured a double-double with 13 rebounds.

Mason (4-2, 2-2) will visit Fairfield on Friday and then travel to Linden McKinley on Saturday.

Mason Boys Bball took a tough 68-66 loss at league-leading Fairfield last Friday night. The Comets fell behind early, losing by 14 at the half. The Comets got on the come-back trail in the final 16 minutes and fell just short, losing by 2.

Leaders for Mason: Ben Golan 19, Matt Debrosse 18, and Jack Ullom 10.

Mason returned to their winning ways on Saturday defeating Linden McKinley 72-47 in an away affair. The Comets pulled away in the 2nd half outscoring McKinley 42-23 over the final 16 minutes.

Leaders: Ben Golan 20 points and 13 rebounds, Mat Debrosse 15 points and Jakc Ullom with 10 rebounds.

Mason (5-3, 2-3) returns to a action at Loveland on Tuesday, 12/27 and then host Kings on Friday, 12/30.

The Comets defeated Loveland 39-35 on Tuesday, 12/27. Ben Golan led the Comets with 11 points.

The Comet boys routed Lakota West at home on Tuesday, 1/3 by the score of 60-40. Leaders for Mason: Jake Hanley 15, Jack Ullom 15, Ben Golan 14.

Next up, Mason visits Sycamore TONIGHT, Friday 1/6.

The Comet boys took one on the chin at Sycamore last Friday. Final score was 71-32. Not many highlights for this contest as Mason fell behind by 12 at the half, but really struggled over the last two quarters.

Next up, Mason (8-4, 3-4) will visit Lakota East on Tuesday.

Mason Boys Basketball held off a come-from-behind effort at Lakota East last night to win a decisive 65-61 victory over the Hawks. The Comets built a 16-point advantage in the 2nd half and then saw that lead shrink to a single point late in the game. Mason was able to sink crucial free throws to cinch the game. Leaders for Mason: Matt DeBrosse and Jake Hanley 16, Ben Menker 10.

Next up, Mason (9-4, 4-4) will host Hamilton this Friday. The freshman game has been moved to January 30th as part of a girls basketball triple-header. The JV game will start at 5:00 with varsity to immediatly follow. All games will be held at the MMS Arena.

Mason boys sent their overall record to 10-4 last Friday with a home win vs. Hamilton by a score of 73-58. The Comets led by 7 at the half and built on their lead from there. Leaders for Mason: Ben Golan 18, Matt Debrosse 15, Ben Menker 14, Jack Ullom 11 and Jake Hanley 10.

The Comets are on the road to Springfield HS this Tuesday.

Mason Boys continued their winning ways last Tuesday with a 73-52 road win at Springfield. The Comets held a 4 point advantage at the half, then outscored Springfield 24-10 in the third quarter to essentially put the game away. Leaders for Mason: Ben Golan 24, Matt Debrosse 17 and Ben Menker 13. Golan had a double-double collecting 13 carooms.

Next up, Mason boys (11-4, 5-4) will host GMC leader Fairfield (12-3, 9-0 GMC) TONIGHT at the Middle School Arena.

Mason Boys Bball suffered a tough 58-23 home loss to Fairfield on Friday night. Mason led by 4 at the half, but got outscored 21-12 in the third quarter. Leaders for Mason: Ben Golan 15 and Ben Menker 13. Both players earned double-doubles with 11 rebounds.

Next up for Mason (11-5, 5-5) is an away game at Princeton Tuesday night.

Mason Boys Bball fell 53-39 at Princeton last Tuesday. The Comets got off to a slow start in the contest battled to get back in it in the fourth. Leaders for Mason: Braden Greer 10 points.

Mason Boys Bball defeated Colerain at home last Friday, 56-31. The Comets outscored the Cardinal 18-2 in the final quarter to put the game on "ice". Leaders for Mason: Ben Menker 12 and Jack Ullom 11.

Mason will host visiting Lakota East on Tuesday at the Mason Middle School Arena.

Mason Boys Basketball completed a furious late-game, come-from-behind win on Tuesday night versus Lakota East. The Comets earned their teams 13th win of the season with a 71-68 thriller over the Hawks to sweep their 2-game series for the 2022-23 season.

Mason found themselves down by as much 13 points in the contest with a halftime score of 31-18. The comeback started in the third quarter, but Mason didn't take their first lead until the final minutes of the game. In the fourth quarter, Mason's pressing defense undid the Hawk lead, forcing them to foul and then converting at the free throw line to win the game.

Leaders for Mason: Ben Golan 18, Matt DeBrosse 12, Jack Ullom 11 and Braden Greer 10. Golan snatched 9 rebounds in the game.

Mason (13-6, 7-6) will visit Middletown on Friday.

Mason boys basketball slipped by Middletown last Friday, 58-57. The see-saw affair came down to the final few seconds with the Middies missing an opportunity to send the game to OT from the free throw line. Leaders for Mason: Ben Golan 16 and Jack Ullom 15.

The Comets (14-6, 8-6) enter the last week of the regular season with an away game vs. West on Tuesday and then Oak Hills at home on Friday for senior night.

Mason boys are the #6 seed in the upcoming Sectional tourney at Lakota West. The drew a first round bye and will play the winner of the Oak Hills/Milford contest on Wed. 2/22 at West at 5:30 PM.

Mason boys fell at Lakota West on Tuesday night by a score of 55-43. After the half ended, both teams were tied at 21-21. The Firebirds proceeded to outscore the Comets 18-8 over the next 8 minutes and the deficit could not be overcome. Leaders for Mason: Matt Debrosse 14 and Jack Ullom 13 (double-double 10 rebounds).

Mason (14-7, 8-7) will host Oak Hills on Friday, for senior night and their final regular season contest.

Mason Boys basketball concluded their regular season schedule last Friday night with a 51-40 senior night win over Oak Hills. Mason had to come-from-behind as the Highlanders led 21-16 at the half. A tight game turned into another win in the fourth quarter with the Comets outscoring OH 14-10 down the stretch. Leaders for Mason: Ben Golan 10 points and 10 rebounds (double-double). Jack Ullom had 5 assists.

Seniors David Metzger, Jack Ullom, Will Kraimer, Ben Golan, and Jared Koelling were recognized for their contributions to the Comet boys basketball program.

Mason boys (15-8, 9-7) are the #6 seed in the upcoming Sectional tourney at Lakota West. The drew a first round bye and will play Milford (who defeated Oak Hills 52-44 to advance) on Wed. 2/22 at West at 5:30 PM. The winner will advance to the Sectional Final back at West on Friday, Feb. 24th, 6:00 PM.

Mason Boys Basketball played their first tourney game on Wednesday at Lakota West versus an upset minded Milford team. The Comets got off to a very slow start and trailed by double-digits most of the first half.

After falling behind 29-20 at the half, Mason started a furious comeback in the second half with full court pressure resulting in Milford turnovers (21).

The Comets took their first lead of the game at the 5:53 mark in the fourth quarter. Over the final several minutes both teams gained and lost leads. Mason was able to pull away in the final minutes on some breakaway baskets and securing the win at the free throw line. Final score 58-53.

Leaders for Mason: Ben Golan 21 points, Jack Ullom 12 points. Matt DeBrosse had 5 steals.

Mason advances to TONIGHTS Sectional Final at Lakota West versus Anderson who defeated LaSalle 62-42 to advance. Game time is set for 6:00 pm.

The winner of tonights contest advances to the District Title game on Saturday, March 4th at UD Arena versus either #1 Centerville or #14 Sydney.

Mason Boys Basketball saw their 12-point halftime lead (31-19) dissolve in the third quarter of the team's Sectional Title game last Friday at West, ending their hopes of continuing on to District.  Anderson went on a furious come-from-behind effort after the break, not missing a shot in the next 8 minutes and outscoring the Comets 26-9 in the 3rd frame, then holding off any Mason comeback in the fourth.  Final score:

It was a "tale of two halves" for Mason.  The Comets led by as many as 13 points in the opening half, pressing Anderson into numerous turnovers that resulted in Mason baskets.  The Raptors could do no wrong in the deciding third quarter, bombing three-pointers that had fallen short in the first half.  

Leaders for Mason were Jake Hanley 13 and Ben Golan 11.  

Mason ends their 2022-23 season with an overall record of 16-8 and 9-7 in the GMC.

The Comet girls basketball team has started out their 2022-23 season much like last year when they were OHSAA State Runner up. Mason has reeled off 5 straight wins in the early going. See details below:

On Nov. 23rd, the Comets defeated visiting Beavercreek 53-38. Super soph Madison Parrish led Mason with 16 points. Gabby Razzano added 11.

Msaon smashed Colerain last Saturday 59-18. This one was never close. Leaders for Mason: Madison Parrish 15 and Anna Habra 10.

The Comets (5-0, 2-0) have another big GMC matchup a Lakota East (5-1, 2-0) on Thursday.

Mason girls suffered their first loss of the season last Wednesday when they were defeated byLakota East, 52-48. The Comets held a slim 43-41 advantage to start the final quarter, but couldn't match the Hawks free throw prowes in the final 8.

Mason (5-1, 2-1) will seek to return to their winning form on Saturay when they visit Oak Hills.

The Comet girls bball team returned to their winning ways on Saturday with a 55-34 win at Oak Hills. Mason ran out to a 23-19 first half lead and built on their advantage in the final 16 minutes.

Mason girls (6-1, 3-1 GMC) will host Lakota West on Wednesday, 12/14.

Mason Girls Bball defeated West on Wednesday, 55-34. The Comets expanded a 7-point halftime lead to win going away.

Leaders: Madison Parrish 18 points. Carly Prows and Anna Habra each contributed 10 points.

Mason (7-1, 4-1) will host Middletown on Saturday.

The Comets (8-1, 5-1) return to action on Wednesday, 12/21 with a home game versus Hamilton. They'll also host Bellbrook on Friday, 12/23.

Mason girls defeated Hamilton at home on Wednesday, 12/21 by the score of 63-11. Almost every Comet player scored in the landslide win.

The Comets earned another GMC win over Fairfield at home on Wednesday, 1/4. Final score was 57-34. Leaders for Mason: Madson Parrish 17 and Carly Prows 13.

Next up, Mason (10-1, 7-1) will visit Sycamore on Saturday.

Mason Girls Basketball smacked Sycamore on Saturday, 56-34. Leaders for the Comets: Carly Prows 20 and Maddison Parrish 11. Prows added 9 rebounds. Parrish had 7 steals.

Mason Girls Bball kept pace in the GMC on Wednesday, with a 63-62 victory at Princeton. Coming into the game, both schools had identical league records of 9-1. East still leads the GMC at 9-0 with a season finale showdown on Feb. 4th that could decide the league champion.

Wednesday's battle was a back-and-forth affair. The Vikings held a two-point advantage at the half. Mason made some big baskets in the final two quarters, while their defense stepped up with some big stops to secure the win.

Leaders for Mason: Madison Parrish 28, Gabby Razzano 12, Carly Prows 11 (8 rebounds) and Anna Habra 10.

Next up for Mason girls (12-1, 9-1) is the annual Classic in the Country this coming weekend.

Mason girls bball blasted Colerain at home on Wednesday, 74-39. The Comets kept pace with GMC leader Lakota East as the regular season winds down over the next two weeks. Leaders in the game for Mason: Madison Parrish 12 and Carly Prows 10.

The Mason Girls (15-1, 10-1) are the #1 ranked team in the latest OHSAA Division 1 basketball poll. They are followed by #2 Lakota East (15-1, 10-0). The two rivals meet for their last game of the season on February 4th at Mason.

Next up, Mason will visit Middletown on Saturday.

Mason Girls continued their GMC dominance on Saturday with a 59-31 win over Middletown. Leaders for Mason: Gabby Razzano 14, Madison Parrish 13 and Amanda Barnes 11.

The states #1 teams will visit Fairfield on Wednesday. The Comets are 16-1 overall and 11-1 in the GMC.

The top team in the State of Ohio, the Mason Comet Girls Bball Team, knocked off Fairfield on the road last Wednesday, 49-39. The Indians ran out to an early 26-20 lead at the half, but the Comets battled back. Mason outscored Fairfield 29-13 in the final two quarters to earn the win. Leaders for Mason: Carly Prows 14, Madison Parrish and Gabby Razzano 11.

Mason Girls Bball kept pace in the GMC, defeating Oak Hills at home on Saturday, 53-26. The Comets led by 11 at the half and turned up the defensive heat in the 2nd half to run away with the game. Mason allowed the Highlanders a stingy 5 points in the final two quarters. Leaders for Mason: Carly Prows 11 points, Gabby Razzano 6 assists.

Next up, Mason (18-1, 13-1) will host Bellbrook TODAY, Monday Jan. 30th.

The Comets secured a #1 seed in the upcoming Sectional at Harrison. They'll play Anderson (#31 seed) in a 1st round contest on Wednesday, Feb. 8th, 7:00 at Harrison.

Mason girls "out muscled" visitng Bellbrook on Monday, 57-37. The Comets were able to expand a close game in the 2nd half outscoring Bellbrook 26-16. Leaders for Mason: Carly Prows 16, Gabby Razzano and Madison Parrish 10.

Next up, Mason (19-1, 13-1) will visit West TONIGHT, Wed. 2/1.

Mason Girls Basketball set themselves up for a GMC showdown on Wednesday, by overwhelming Lakota West 59-32. Mason led 30-15 at the half and never looked back. Leaders for the Comets: Carly Prows 22 points.

Mason and Lakota East will decide the 2022-23 GMC title on Saturday at the Mason Middle School arena. Varisty tip off is at 1:45. The Comets are seeking the programs third stand alone GMC title (2013, 2021) and 6th overall.

Last season Mason shared the trophy with Princeton. The Comets fell to Lakota East earlier this season by a score of 52-48. The Hawks only loss occured against Princeton.

Both East and Mason have identical 14-1 GMC records.

Mason Girls Basketball won their 3rd outright (2013, 2021, 2023) GMC Championship on Saturday in a decisive 58-46 win at home versus Lakota East. The title for the Comet girls is their 6th overall (2013, 2017, 2018, 2021, 2022, 2023) after sharing the top spot with Princeton last season. The win versus East avenged an earler season loss to the Thunderhawks (52-48) on Dec. 7th, and putting together a 16-game win streak following that setback.

The two local powerhouses entered the contest tied for the GMC with one loss in a "winner takes all" matchup. The first three quarters of play didn't disappoint, before a big crowd at the Mason Middle School Arena. Each team traded punches in the first half with the score even at 28-28 at the half. Mason pulled away in the third quarter and kept the pressure for the rest of regulation play. A bucket by Gabby Razzano (8 points) with 4:30 left in the third stanza gave Mason a 34-33 lead they would not relinquish for the remainder of the afternoon. The Hawks got into some 2nd half foul issues keeping a couple of their best players on the bench.

Lakota East pulled within a bucket at 43-41 on the opening possession of the fourth quarter when senior Payton Woody knocked down a 3-pointer from the top of the key. It was the closest the Thunderhawks would get as Mason immediately responded with a 9-0 run. Mason's defense held Lakota East to just 5 points over the final seven-plus minutes.

Mason's Madison Parrish finished with a game-high 23 points. Senior Carly Prows had 9 points and freshman guard Anna Habra connected twice from beyond the arc, finishing with 10 points and 11 rebounds for her first career double-double. Senior Amanda Barnes helped put the game away with 5 free throws. 

For now, the Comets (21-1, 15-1) will enjoy the 2023 GMC title, but a third edition of this rivalry is very possible. Mason is a No. 3 seed in its district bracket and Lakota East is a No. 2 seed in its. The two could see each other down the road in the regional championship with a spot in the Division I state Final Four on the line.

Mason Girls Basketball opened postseason play against Anderson on Wednesday at Harrison. The Comets easily dispensed of their first round opponent by a final score of 60-25. Leaders for Mason were: Anna Habra 19 an Madison Parrish 17.

Mason Girls advanced to the Sectional Final on Wednesday with a blowout 67-8 win over Northwest. Leaders for Mason: Riley Yost 12 points. The Comet's bench players saw a lot of action in the contest. Mason has now won 18 straight games and is the #1 ranked team in the final OHSAA Division 1 state poll.

Mason will play Loveland at Harrison on Tuesday, February 21st at 5:00 PM. The winner will advance to the District Championship on Saturday, Feb. 25th vs. either Beavercreek or Springboro at Princeton HS.

Mason Girl's Basketball had no trouble defeating Loveland in the Sectional Final at Harrison last Tuesday. The final score was 49-22. The Comets jumped out to a halftime lead of 25-12 and then put the game away in the fourth quarter. Leaders for the Comets: Madison Parrish 19 points, Carly Prows and Gabby Razzano 12 points each. Razzano had a double-double collecting 10 rebounds in the game.

Mason advances to the District Championship vs. Springboro on Saturday, 2/25, 4:00 PM at Princeton. It will be the 2nd meeting of the two teams this season. Mason defeated the Boros 44-25 in the third game of the season on 11/27. The District title game will be a re-match from last season when the Comets won 57-48.

Mason is seeking a third consecutive District Title and 9th overall.

Saturday's winner advances to the Regional Semi-Final vs. either Princeton or Mount Notre Dame on Tuesday, 2/28 (location TBA).

The states #1 ranked Mason Girl's Basketball took care of business versus Springboro in Saturday's District Championship contest at Princeton (55-28) to win their program's third straight title and 16th overall since the 1990-91 season (10th under Coach Matula).  The Comets advance to the Sweet 16!  

A close 1st half (19-18) turned into a second-half rout for Mason.  The Comets shut down the Boros offense over the last 16 minutes outscoring them 36-10 to move on in the state tournament.  

Leaders for Mason:  Madison Parrish 19, Carly Prows 16.  

Mason (25-1) will meet a familiar opponent in the Regional Semi-Final.  The Comets will face Princeton who defeated Mount Notre Dame to advance. 

The two teams played two very close games in the regular season with Mason winning 54-48 on 11/30 and 63-62 on 1/11.  The game will be played at Lakota West, at 7:00 PM. 

The winner will advance to Saturday's Regional Championship vs. either Kings or Lakota East, back at West, at 7:00 pm.  

REGIONAL SEMI-FINAL

Mason Girls Basketball fell to Princeton 59-54 at Tuesday's regional semi-final at West. The Comets were not able to overcome a tough Viking defensive effort. Princeton limited Mason to 26.3% shooting .

Mason had brief leads early in the 1st quarter, then played from behind the remainder of the game. Princeton got into foul trouble and seemed to falter in the last few minutes allowing Mason to battle back to a 3-point disadvantage. That's as close as it would get and the Vikings sealed it from the freethrow line to hand the Comets only their 2nd loss on the season.

Carly Prows led Mason with 17 points. Freshman Anna Habra had 15 points and nine rebounds, scoring Mason’s last 9 points down the stretch. Madison Parrish scored 13 on the night.

Mason finishes the season with 25-2 record, GMC and District Champions in the 2022-23 season. The Comets will say goodbye to seniors Carly Prows, Bradyn Johnson, Amanda Barnes, Lillian Ehlers, Joy Resig, Payton Black and Gabby Razzano.

This past weekend Mason Swim/Dive hosted 2 meets. Friday night the Comets hosted Indian Hill & Madeira. Saturday we hosted 3 teams in a quad meet – Princeton, Lebanon, & Kings. Results & top performances below:

Mason will compete at Akron Firestone on Friday, 12/16 and then participate in the Canton Invitational on Saturday.

Our swimmers had a very successful weekend. The Comets had 41 swimmers travel to Akron/Canton to compete in a dual meet Friday night vs. Akron Firestone. Then on Saturday Mason traveled to Canton to compete in the Christmas Invitational held at the CT Branin Natatorium. The rest of the team saw action Friday night at home in a dual meet vs. CHCA. Next up, Mason will compete at the Braves Invite on Wednesday, 12/21.

Over the holiday break, we took about 44 swimmers up to Miami University to compete in the Brave Invite. Both teams won by a large margin. Our boys’ team easily won outdistancing 2nd place Fairfield by over 130 points. There were over 15 teams participating in the invite.

The boys were led by double winner Joseph Tomlinson. Joseph won the 200 IM & 50 Breaststroke. Other individual winners were Finlay Tomlinson in the 50 Backstroke & David Benedek in the 100 IM.

Next up, Mason Swimming and Diving competes at home versus Upper Arlington on Saturday.

Mason Boys Swimming hosted Upper Arlington on Friday night. The team swam well but could not hold up to UA’s overall depth, losing 194-91. Top performances were turned in by Drew Fox, Ethan Fang, & Cole Scheidler.

Next up for Mason Swimming and Diving is the Southwest Invite, coming Saturday and Sunday.

Mason Swimming and Diving participated in the largest High School meet in the nation last weekend and both our teams swam very well! There were 11 preliminary sites throughout the SW District. Finals were held at St. Xavier High School. The Comets brought over 16 swimmers to compete at finals each night! It was a total team performance by both squads!

The boys team finished 2nd, their highest finish ever!

2 team records were set through the weekend. Ethan Fang broke the 400 IM record that was set back in 2006, while our boy’s 400 Medley Relay also set a team record. Their relay members were: Drew Fox, Ethan Fang, Tyler Houpt, & Max Plumley.

Mason Boys Swimming and Diving win their programs 7th straight GMC title last Saturday and 11th overall.

The boy’s won 7 out of 12 events and easily outdistanced runner-up Sycamore by over 200 points! The team was led by double winners Senior Max Plumley and Junior Tyler Houpt. Max won the 50 Freestyle & 100 Butterfly and he was named “Co-GMC Swimmer of the Year”.

Junior Tyler Houpt won the 200 IM & 100 Breaststroke. Other individual wins were turned in by senior Drew Fox in the 100 Backstroke.

The girl’s team had a very close meet vs. a tough Lebanon squad but fell short by 4 points! Evie Mendelsohn, Sophie Wang, & freshman Clara Maney were our only individual winners. Evie won the 100 Freestyle, Sophie won the 200 Freestyle & Clara won the 500 Freestyle.

Mason will compete at Akron Firestone on Friday, 12/16 and then participate in the Canton Invitational on Saturday.

Mason swimmers had a very successful weekend. Forty-one their swimmers traveled to Akron/Canton to compete in a dual meet Friday night vs. Akron Firestone. Then on Saturday the Comets traveled to Canton to compete in the Christmas Invitational held at the CT Branin Natatorium. The rest of the team saw action Friday night at home in a dual meet vs. CHCA. Mason Girls Swimming and Diving won their 16th GMC Championship on Saturday at Mason. The Girls have won the league title every year since entering the conference in 2007-08.

The girl’s team totally dominated the meet by winning 9 out of 13 events while outdistancing runner-up Sycamore by over 300 points.

The team was led by Freshman, Bella Teply who won 2 individual events and was named GMC Swimmer of the Year. Bella won the 200 & 500 Freesstyle. Other individual event winners were: Dana Fairbanks – 200 IM, Addy Soehnlen – 100 Butterfly, & Julia Gregory – 100 Breaststroke.

The Comet Girls Bowlers continued their winning ways last Monday by defeating Hamilton 2162-1812. The team is producing one of their better seasons since outright winning the GMC for their 2012-13 campaign (15-1, 9-0 GMC).  The Comets were GMC tri-champs with Middletown and Oak Hills in 2014-15.  

The team is currently in 2nd place in the league (5-1), behind Lakota West (6-0) with three regular season GMC matches remaining against Fairfield, Princeton, and Oak Hills.  

Mason (9-4, 5-1) will visit Fairfield on Wednesday, 2/1.

Mason Girls Bowling concluded a great season at Districts last Friday finishing in 20th place overalll. They were led by Alexa Crociata with a 466 three-game series. Marisa Crociata also had a good 449 three-game series. The team had a great baker series scoring nearly 900.

The Boys Bowling team finished 1st at Sunday's Holiday Tourney at Western Bowl. Caden Graham and Jack Riley were named all-stars. Jack was 7th and Caden was 9th, overall.

The Mason Comets boys bowling team continued their undefeated season when they defeated Lakota East 2856-2305 at Mason Bowl on Wednesday. It has been a very good season so far for the boys team as they have won 2 tournaments and finished 1st place in 3 of their 4 tournaments qualifying round.

The boys are a very senior heavy team with 7 out of 8 starters being seniors. Caden Graham leads the Comets, and the GMC conference, with a 215 average. Ogden Nijakowski, Jake Moyer, and Timmy Hollenbeck are also in the top 10 of the GMC conference.

Next up, Mason (7-0, 4-0 GMC) will compete at the Lancer Baker Bash on Sunday, 1/15.

Mason Boys Bowling continued their undefeated season at Lebanon on Wednesday defeating the Warriors 2911 to 2475. But, that was not the big news.

Aiden Hunt, a senior on the Mason High School bowling team, bowled a perfect game. His 300 was the second game of the day. In the first game of the day he only managed 8 strikes, merely getting a 248. Aiden is having a terrific year.

He and the Mason boys continue to improve as they head into the last third of what already is, an season to remember. Next up, Mason (8-0, 4-0) will host Middletown TODAY, Friday, 1/20.

Mason Boys continued their undefeated season last Monday with a 2834-2216 win over Hamilton. No details of the match were provided.

The COMET senior bowled a perfect game, 300, last week in a 2,911-2,475 win over Lebanon. It was the second game of the day.

Mason is in pursuit of their 6th GMC title this season.  They've shared the title 4 times and won it outright in 2008-09 going undefeated that season at 16-0 overall and 9-0 in the GMC.

The Comets still have some very important league matches remaining over the next several weeks that include a season-ending date with current GMC Co-Leader, Oak Hills (6-0, 6-0), on February 17th.

Mason boys bowling posted one of their best scores of the season on Wednesday with a 3002-2867 win at Fairfield. The Comets stay undefeated on the season.

Mason Boys Bowling made it back-to-back GMC Championships last Friday with a win over previously GMC unbeaten Oak Hills. Final match score was 2994-2805. The Comets not only swept the GMC with a 9-0 record but finished the season unbeaten at 15-0! It marks the 5th consecutive season that Mason boys have either shared or won the league title outright, dating back to the 2018-19 season. The team also won an outright GMC title in the 2008-09 season (6 total titles).

Leading the way for Mason vs. Oak Hills was Jack Riley with a 494 series, Aiden Hunt with a 434 series and Timmy Hollenbeck with a 428 series.

Next up for Mason is the Sectional Tournament on Thursday, Feb. 23rd at Crossgae Lanes. The top 7 teams and 7 individuals qualify to District on Thursday, March 2nd at Beaver-Vu Lanes.

Mason Boys Bowling finished third at Thursday's Sectional Championships at Crossgate. Turpin was the overall winner with Lebanon finishing 2nd. Mason qualifies as one of the top 7 teams to advance to District.Ogden Nijakowski was Mason's top bowler finishing 3rd overall with a 644 series.

The Comets finished 2nd at District last season and earned their program's first-ever trip to state. The Districts top 4 teams and 4 individuals will qualify to State, March 10-11 at Wayne's Web Lanes in Columbus, Ohio.

COMET BOYS BOWLERS STATE BOUND!

For the 2nd consecutive season, the Mason Boys Bowling team will be making a trip to Columbus. The Comets are state-bound after finishing 4th at yesterday's Southwest District Championships at Beaver-Vu Lanes. The top four teams qualified. Hillsboro finished 1st, Beavercreek 2nd and Kettering Fairmont 3rd.

Mason finished with a final total of 4139, besting Fairfield by 96 pins. The Comets were led by Aiden Hunt's 663 series (7th place). Jake Moyer finished 22nd overall with a 624 series. More info to come.

The Comet Boys will compete at the State Championships at Columbus's Waynes Web on Friday/Saturday, March 10-11. Mason will be seeking to improve upon their 11th place finish last year at state.

BOYS BOWLING 4TH AT STATE!

The Mason Boys finished 4th out of 16 teams at the OHSAA Boys Bowling Stater Championships this past weekend. The Comets were making the 2nd vist to the State championships, finishing 11th overall last season.

The Mason boys' had a terrific qualifying round where they were seeded 2nd going into the knockout round.

After easily defeating the 7th ranked team, they met up with Beavercreek and lost while still bowling very well. Beavercreek ended up winning the tournament after the next round.

The Comets were led by senior Aiden Hunt who earned All-State Honorable Mention as an individual, placing in the top 15.
